Solo Trailer Inspection
So, we finally have a piece of the new Solo movie. If you haven’t seen the trailer, you can watch it here.
Overall, it appears that we will be getting a western. This isn’t surprising, considering Han was meant to be modeled after a gunslinger. It appears we have a standoff, train robbery, a few saloon scenes, and what I can feel is a “this town ain’t big enough for the both of us” moment.
You’ll notice at 1:50 we see Bennett ignite what appears to be a rope type weapon. I am curious if it’s just a rope of electricity, like we saw in The Clone Wars, or something else. Perhaps we’re going to get a look at the most pointless Kyber crystal powered weapon in the galaxy: the Lightwhip. Think the blade of a lightsaber but contained like a rope. Yes, it was dangerous to both opponent and wielder. There is a reason they were rarely seen.
We also seem to have another bad guy in a mask. We know very little about the plot of the film, so I won’t try to pin down who he might be. But, within the theme of a western, I’m going to say he’s the leader of a large gang of bandits that our main characters are going to screw over. But again, that’s just a guess from the past.
