The Wolf, The Owl, and Ahsoka Tano
It's been a full season of Rebels since we last saw our favorite character, Ahsoka Tano. Last we saw, she was walking into the temple on Malachor after her battle with her former master. After this episode, you were probably bombarded with fan theories: she's dead, she's alive, it was her force ghost, even that she turned to the dark side. Then, here came the owl, a bird actually called a convor in the universe. As Vader walks away from the temple, we get our first glimpse.

Dave Filoni has chosen to say this on the matter:
It’s a subtle thing that if you know what the owl represents, then it deepens the lore of the whole thing and you go, “Okay, there are things at work here that are beyond our reckoning.” In some ways, I could say that it’s a messenger, it’s an observer. It is definitely something. And I would suggest – I would rather have fans debate – but I would suggest to say that whatever that thing is an avatar of has actually appeared in the animated Star Wars universe before. So decrypt from there…
So, there's that. Something that has appeared before. That drastically narrows it down. The guess everyone went to immediately, and with good reason, is a spiritual entity. More specifically, The Ones. The Father, Daughter, and Son from the Mortis arch in The Clone Wars. He says the owl is an avatar. So, the owl is probably not Ahoska herself as everyone has come to assume, but something that has chosen to observe this moment. Perhaps something that has been watching over Ahsoka for some time. Instantly, The Daughter. But, didn't she die giving her last breath to bring Ahsoka back from death? Evidently, it was only meant to appear that way as Filoni has described the Mortis arch as “tree/cave sequence” like in Empire Strikes Back. This is huge! Ahsoka lives and is being watched by a descended Celestial, what the Ones came from.
Filoni has since dropped a few more drawings on us.

It appears that Ahsoka walks into the temple as we saw at the end of season 2 and finds her way down to a water-filled hall. The owl (convor) leads or follows her down the hall. And that's all we know. Then, the theories went nuts. The last morsel we were gifted by Filoni (and on his birthday) was this treasure:

It's well known that Filoni has always loved wolves. He originally planned to use them in Ahsoka's escape during Order 66, but the show was canceled (thanks a bunch, Disney). So, Ahsoka is NOT a wolf. The theme had begun to reoccur to the point that some thought Ahsoka was the wolf, but not so much it would seem. Given that Filoni has stated that the owl is an avatar and the Mortis arch was more of an illusion, I would say that the Ones are very much alive and are watching. The Daughter is the owl and the Father is the wolf. We have not seen the Son yet, or we don't realize we have. It is possible that a part of the Daughter now lives in Ahsoka, and so she takes special interest in her.
What do you think? Is Ahsoka going to transform into the Daughter or is she being watched by her? Will she become a spiritual being, and live on? Or does she have to die before Return of the Jedi (like Kanan and Ezra). Ahsoka has taken a special place in our hearts and in the SW canon. I wouldn't be surprised if Filoni found a way to transform her into a being that could be known for the next 1,000 years. And I can't imagine another character deserving it more.

P.S.- Remember "Luke, when I die, the last of the Jedi will you be". Sorry, there's just no getting around that one. And if Disney decides to use syntax and the "not technically Jedi" argument, I will feel very cheated. Luke was alone. That was the point. You can't get around this one. By the time Yoda dies, there must be no trained light-side users left.
